CO CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

I don’t really play other sports, my life and passion is football. In my spare time I watch, play, and teach it to others. I do enjoy going to church, swimming, socializing, meeting new people, travelling and playing my guitar.

Huge Football Interest

Playing

I was six, the first time I kicked a football. Football has always been my main passion. I started playing it as a hobby, at the age of eight. During my youth days I played with my friends at the park, on weekends and holidays (till dawn). We would enter local tournaments and play a majority of games.  I always played with friends for fun and did not play for an actual team until I was 17 years old.  My first official football team that I joined was Hendon women’s football team. I stayed with this club for 3 years. I then played for Tottenham Hotspur ladies for two years. I alternated and played for both the first and reserve team squad (I was the top scorer for the reserves and reached 3rd place for the first team).

Furthermore, after my time at Tottenham, I went on to play for Mauritius Sports Association (MSA) ladies for a couple of seasons, and later on I became a Player-Manager for Camden Women's reserve team (being their head coach and player). At my time with MSA ladies, we won the John Greenacre Memorial Cup and I designed the club’s website for them too. After a season with Camden, I later on joined AFC Wimbledon for a a season. Academically, throughout my four year university program, I maintained playing football all throughout playing for the teams I mentioned above. My university did not have a Women's football team, that's why I played outside my university.

In 2010 I was than recruited to play in America for Ohio Valley University DII (Fighting Scots) women’s team for a year. Being a student athlete for the first time was very challenging. A lot of time was committed to practicing, travelling and playing games. This offered a lot of sacrifice. Therefore I learnt you need loyalty and time management skills. The experience I had being a Division II football player has been an enjoyable and worthwhile experience, which has made me a more talented  person.

Moreover, when I came back to England, I joined Enfield futsal team and took part 5 aside Futsal tournaments. In December 2013 and May 2015, my team reached the Futsal London 5 aside National Finals (in Wembley stadium). I was fortunate enough to captain the team. In 2016, I returned to America and joined West Virginia Women’s Club Soccer team for a season. During this time, we reached both the regionals and national championships.

Whilst studying as a full time student in both England and America, I have always played as a forward but I made sure I worked hard and maintained my grades. I am able to work hard, committed, hardworking, good time keeper and loyal.

I now participate in friendlies and pickup games, as well as joining in mini leagues in the community.

Coaching

As well as playing, I am also a qualified FA UEFA B Coach. I have been coaching for 18 years now. For the first 4 years I coached without any qualifications, and taught myself. I then went on to do my level one coaching badge when I was 17 years old and obtained my certificate in January 2005. In August 2007, I went on to do my level two coaching badge as well as being the only female on the course. I was also fortunate enough to be funded and chosen by the London Borough of Camden to do my badges. A group of us were chosen because of our achievements in coaching in the area, this therefore meant I did not have to pay a dime. I then went on to complet my UEFA B and both Youth Module's 1 and 2, in October 2014.

During my coaching time I completed my FA Club Welfare Officer, FA Safeguarding and FA Emergency Aid.

The first team I became head coach for was Isledon Wolves FC, in 2006. This youth team was grass roots,  I coached and managed them on my own (with no assistants). I was with them for three years. In my third season with them, the team finished top of the table, and were undefeated on the pitch. They became Division B league champions in 2009/10, with a promotion to the A league. I also won 2 cups with them, and were runners up (twice in local tournaments).

Furthermore, after completing my second degree in the states, I came back to Isledon Wolves in 2013/14. I managed an A and B team (on my own again) in the midweek and a 11 aside team on Sundays. In my first season with this team we won 3 cups. In the following season in 2014/15 I became assistant coach for Millwall FC (a professional/ elite club) under 15’s and under 17s girls and continued my last season with Isledon Wolves. It was a bitter sweet last season with Isledon Wolves, we were Treble cup winners, and were automatically promoted to the Premier league (because of their achievements and winning 6 cups that year).

In 2015 I left Isledon Wolves to work full time with Millwall FC. I became the Head coach for the under 13’s girls. It was an achievement having three of the girls making the national England squad and beating Arsenal in the season.

I left Millwall in 2016 to come back to America to complete my Masters degree. In 2017/18 I became the Head coach for West Virginia University Women’s Club Soccer team. The season was a success, the team were undefeated for the first time, winning the division and making it to the regionals with a 1-0-2 and 0.67 goal average. In addition, in 2016, I completed my American Red Cross Sport First aid, United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Safe Sport an National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) heat illness prevention.

Volunteering

I have had the opportunity on a few occasions to coach in the poor and deprived places in Zambia. Teaching young boys and girls football. This has been a great experience, I am looking to continue this in other parts of the deprived areas, around the world. This was done with a charity group called: Karibu foundation Charity Group.

Moreover, in my younger years I have done many voluntary work, working in my neighbourhood and the community, being the voice for young people at meetings, conferences and residential trips. I have also helped to organize, and facilitate various community events in my borough, such as a Winter Festival. My voluntary membership with Red Hot Green youth forum also enables me to be an active member of my community, as we help to organize events in the community trips.

I also had the opportunity to be involved in OVU's social club: Theta. Being a member of the club, I made many friends, played intramural's, performed in plays and became the secretary. I am also now a frequent church member at my church and have grown closer to God.

The two recent jobs I have had is a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, in Edmonton County School, in 2012-2015 and Sports into Schools/Regents Park FC coaching football and working in schools (around the Islington area) in 2015-2016. Now I am a graduate teaching assistant, teaching students at the university physical education classes and athletic coaching training and the head women's club soccer coach.
